Game Recap: Spurs Get Help From Everywhere in Route of Pistons
The San Antonio Spurs have defeated the Detroit Pistons 103-92. The Spurs move to 41-10 on the season, ending the Pistons' 4-game home win streak and sending Detroit to 25-29.
Detroit was demolished on the glass tonight, as no one was able to give any help to Andre Drummond. Drummond, who still got his usual double-double, was dominated by usual backup Dewayne Dedmon, as starter Pau Gasol was out for tonight's game. The offense was stagnant for the Pistons tonight, as only Ish Smith and Tobias Harris made over half their shots. Surprisingly, Reggie Jackson had a poor shooting night, even while being faced against San Antonio's weak defensive point guard in Tony Parker.
The Spurs got some unexpected help from previously mentioned Dewayne Dedmon, as he put up 17 points and corralled 17 boards while also forcing Drummond into an awful shooting night filled with ill-advised post-ups. Kawhi Leonard had a great game, putting up 32, 5 assists and 6 rebounds against the Pistons defense. LaMarcus Aldridge also contributed big, scoring 18 and grabbing 11 rebounds en route to the Spurs win.
For something the Pistons are usually good at, they were killed on the glass tonight, allowing a total of 51 rebounds to their own 35. While the overall defense wasn't totally lackluster, Detroit allowed the Spurs to shoot 50% from the field, while only shooting 42% themselves. While the Pistons did fight their way back towards the end, it looked like yet another poor effort from this Detroit team.
The Pistons take on the Raptors and the Spurs face the Knicks this Sunday.
