Report: Teams Expected to Go After Stanley Johnson, Pistons Unlikely to Deal Him

Stanley Johnson has had a rough start to the 2016-2017 campaign. He started the season with high expectations. Some even thought he could take over the starting small forward spot. So far, that has not been the case. Johnson has even lost his spot in the rotation as of late to Darrun Hilliard.

According to former Detroit Pistons beat writer and CSN Chicago's Vincent Goodwill:

Sources have told CSNChicago.com the Pistons have resisted overtures for Johnson but with the recent developments, expect executives for rival teams to be more aggressive.

While Detroit is very unlikely to deal Johnson, it will be interesting to see what teams would send to the Pistons for Johnson. Although he is averaging just 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, the Pistons expect him to turn it around.

When the Pistons sent Johnson down to the D-League over the weekend Johnson delivered. He scored 26 points in the loss for the Grand Rapids Drive but showed the talent and confidence the Pistons need him to play with. Johnson also received valuable minutes against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. He played 26 minutes, finishing with six points, five steals, four assists, and two rebounds. It was an all-around solid performance for Johnson, who the Pistons desperately need to contribute.

For now, a move seems unlikely to be made for Johnson. Johnson is still just 20 years and still possesses promising potential.
