REPORT: Sixers' Zhaire Smith Mentioned in Possible Trade Package for Derrick Rose
The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly been eyeing Derrick Rose for a while now, alongside fellow Detroit guards Luke Kennard and Langston Galloway. As the Sixers look to push closer to title contention, mystery prospect Zhaire Smith has been mentioned in possible packages for the former MVP, according to Jabari Young of CNBC:
"Also, Sixers guard Zhaire Smith was being mentioned in possible packages for Pistons guard Derrick Rose, an Eastern Conference league executive said."
Rose has exceeded even the highest individual expectations with Detroit this season, with eye-opening averages of 18.5 points and 5.8 assists per game - both his highest since the 2011-12 season.
Meanwhile, Smith has yet to play meaningful minutes in the NBA after being drafted 16th overall in 2018 due to injuries and the team's desire to win now. Smith is a gifted athlete, but not much else is known about him. However, with the possibility of picks being attached to him, the Pistons might just have to bite the bullet on the unknown and take what they can for Rose - whose value will likely never be higher.
