Report: Reggie Jackson to Begin Basketball Activities Monday
Reggie Jackson has been progressing well since undergoing treatment for nagging knee tendonitis. Jackson will begin basketball activities on Monday for the first time since undergoing treatment.
Jackson decided to receive treatment on his left knee prior to the beginning of the 2016-2017 season. “Monday is four weeks and he will be able to start doing activities, start running a little bit and start back to activity, then it’s a ramp-up from there,” Stan Van Gundy said Sunday to the media.
The Pistons are currently 4-2 before they head out west for a four-game road trip. Jackson will travel with the team but will not play. Ish Smith and Beno Udrih will continue to man the point guard position for the Pistons. Smith is averaging 10.5 points and 7.5 rebounds through six games this season. Beno Udrih has backed up Smith admirably, averaging 7.8 points and four assists per game. Overall the point guard play has been exceptional without Jackson.
Detroit still needs Jackson, as he is a much better point guard than either Smith or Udrih.
The Pistons play tomorrow night against the Los Angeles Clippers in their first game of the road trip.
