The news comes as a surprise, as Jackson has battled this for years. The injury did not affect him last season, which makes this a bit worrisome.
Jackson was the starting point guard for the Pistons last season, averaging 18.8 points and 6.2 assists per game. He is a major part of the team, as Stan Van Gundy relies on him to man the pick and roll heavy offense Detroit runs along with Andre Drummond.
Detroit currently has three other point guards on the roster, in Ish Smith Lorenzo Brown, and Ray McCallum Jr. As Stein reports, Detroit may explore the point-guard market. Smith started for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 14.7 points and seven assists per game.
We will continue to update this report as more information comes out.
