The agreement is not complete yet but the serious talks were later confirmed by Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo! Sports.

Weaver has been in OKC's front office for the past ten seasons, but this shortened season, he was promoted to the team's VP of Basketball Operations. He had previously served as the team's Vice President/Assistant General Manager for the past seven years. His first job in the NBA began in 2004 when he was a scout for the Utah Jazz.
Weaver enters a front office that is still to be led by senior advisor Ed Stefanski, but in need of help after the loss of Malik Rose. The exact power Weaver will have if he is officially hired is unknown, as reports have made it clear that Stefanski is not taking a demotion or loss of leadership with the addition of a general manager.
Weaver's resumé is very impressive. He's been a head coach, assistant coach, and worked in numerous front-office roles for many years. It is easy to see why he was an attractive name in the Pistons' GM search.
The two sides are still working to finalize the agreement but expectations are that the Pistons have their next general manager.
