The Detroit Pistons have waived forward Joe Johnson, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The move comes before the 5:00 p.m. deadline, in which the Pistons had to trim their roster down to 15 players.

Yesterday, Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports reported that Detroit intended on keeping Christian Wood, who stood out in the preseason.
There was some belief that Detroit would make a trade so that they could keep both Johnson and Wood. Trade candidates included Khyri Thomas and Langston Galloway.
As Wojnarowski reports, the Pistons wanted to develop hold onto Thomas as a development piece.

Johnson averaged 3.8 points and two rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game through four preseason contests.
The Pistons roster now stands at 15, and is set for the regular season, which begins on Wednesday for them.
