REPORT: Pistons Trade Jerami Grant to Portland Trail Blazers

The Detroit Pistons have agreed to trade forward Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers for a the Milwaukee Bucks 2025 first-round draft pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Pistons will swap the 46th pick in Thursday's NBA Draft to Portland for the 36th pick. Detroit will also receive the most favorable 2026 second-round pick between Portland and the New Orleans Pelicans, reports ESPN.

The Milwaukee 2025 first-round pick is protected from picks 1-4.

The trade creates a $21 million trade exception for the Pistons and gives them $43 million in cap space to work with this offseason.

Grant, 28, signed a three-year deal with Detroit in the 2020 offseason and has one year remaining on the contract. Grant is owed just under $21 million for the 2022-23 season.

Last season Grant averaged 19.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 47 appearances. He spent a large portion of the season hurt, missing time in the middle of the year with a right thumb injury and the end of the season with a left calf strain.

The Pistons will pick 5th in the draft on Thursday night and have been linked to numerous players including Jaden Ivey, Keegan Murray, and Bennedict Mathurin.

They have also been heavily linked to restricted free agent Deandre Ayton, although Grant was a name often included in speculative sign-and-trade talks that would have brought Ayton to Detroit.

Portland's interest in Grant has been noted throughout this past season with expectations that Detroit would land the Blazers first-round pick. Instead, Detroit receives a 2025 first-round pick, a higher second-round pick, and a 2026 second-round pick for Grant and the 46th pick in tomorrow's draft.
