REPORT: Pistons Trade Jahlil Okafor, Sekou Doumbouya to Nets for DeAndre Jordan and Four 2nd Round Picks
The Detroit Pistons have reportedly agreed to trade forward Sekou Doumbouya and Jahlil Okafor to the Brooklyn Nets for center DeAndre Jordan, four 2nd-round picks, and cash according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Pistons are expected to buyout Jordan and let him be a free agent.
This move ends the up and down tenure for Doumbouya, the team's former first round pick in 2018. He fell out of the rotation altogether this past season and had a hard time making meaningful contributions on the court when he was able to see it. For the Nets, they get a young, raw wing player and free up significant salary cap space.
Once Jordan is bought out, the Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly front runners for the big man's services according to ESPN. In order to do that though, the Pistons will have to negotiate on the $20 million remaining on his contract.
Brooklyn surrenders four 2nd round picks, a coup for Troy Weaver and the rest of the front office. Those can be leveraged to get back into the first round of a future NBA Draft or cash out during the trading deadline.
