Report: Pistons Interested in Matthew Dellavedova

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Detroit Pistons are interested in Cleveland Cavaliers' backup point guard, Matthew Dellavedova.

Windhorst spoke today on the Zach Lowe Podcast the Pistons being interested in Dellavedova:

They could’ve signed Matthew Dellavedova to a $2 or $3 million a year contract and now I think someone is coming in with a $10 million offer sheet. For some reason, (chuckles) and I got a pretty good idea why, the Milwaukee Bucks attended Cavs games in the playoffs like they were a fan of the team. They had scouts there…Jason Kidd came to one of the games. I think the Bucks have zeroed in on Dellavedova. I think they intend to offer him a bunch of money. The Detroit Pistons were hanging around in the playoffs a lot, sending scouts. They weren’t sending scouts to evaluate J.R. (Smith), I think they intend to go after Dellavedova.

The Milwaukee Bucks are also interested in Dellavedova, and the Cavs will likely also try to retain him. Other teams are sure to pursue the scrappy point guard as well.

Last season for Cleveland, he averaged 7.5 points and 4.4 assists in over 24 minutes per game. He is a good defender, but a turnover prone distributor, as he averaged 2.2 turnovers per game.

Dellavedova will likely cost the Pistons a hefty amount of money this offseason. As the cap goes up, more and more players will demand more money that they may or may not deserve.

Free Agency begins July 1st and within a few days of free agency, it should become clear if Detroit will contend for Matthew Dellavedova, or look elsewhere for point guard help.
