REPORT: Pistons Forward Marvin Bagley III Expected to Miss Extended Time with Right Hand Injury
Detroit Pistons big man Marvin Bagley III is expected to miss extended time after suffering a right-hand injury during the team's Jan. 2 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:
The 23-year-old Bagley, who Detroit inked to a three-year, $37 million extension this offseason, has proven to be a serviceable offensive option at times as the team's third big. However, his defensive woes and outdated offensive repertoire have kept him from progressing as the Pistons had hoped. In 25 games this season, Bagley has averaged 10.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game on 53.7% shooting and a ghastly 27.3% from deep.
During his absence, it is likely that Nerlens Noel and Kevin Knox will see increased roles. Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren will also be asked to shoulder a heavier burden in the frontcourt for the foreseeable future.
