The Detroit Pistons will not guarantee their team option on second year shooting guard Michael Gbinije, Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports.

This means that Gbinije will not become an unrestricted free agent. With the decision to rid of Gbinije and his contract, Detroit will save a little bit of money. Their roster now stands at 14.
Gbinije appeared in just nine games last season with the Pistons. He averaged 0.4 points and 0.2 assists in 3.6 minutes per game. He spent a good chunk of time last year with the Grand Rapids Drive, playing 16 games with them. Over his time in the D-League, he averaged 12 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He shot 33 percent from the three-point line.
Gbinije did play with the Pistons Summer League team in July but apparently did not do enough to impress.
