Wood played eight games with the Pelicans last season, after New Orleans claimed him off of waivers after the Milwaukee Bucks cut him late last season. There, in 23.6 minutes per game, he averaged an eye-raisingly efficient 16.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
He shot 53.3% from the field and 28.6% from the 3-point line with the Pelicans. On the season he shot 34.6% overall from distance.

Wood is just 23 years old and began his career with the Philadelphia 76ers. With Detroit slim upfront, Wood could be the backup behind Andre Drummond next season, unless the team plans to move along with Thon Maker at the five.
Wood attended college at UNLV.
