Report: Pistons Claim Beno Udrih Off Waivers
The Detroit Pistons continue to change their mind on who they want backing up Ish Smith while Reggie Jackson misses time to begin the season.
They went into the offseason with Lorenzo Brown slated as their third string point guard. They then went on to sign Ray McCallum. They went through a heated training camp battle, with McCallum ultimately earning the spot. Lorenzo Brown was waived just a few days ago.
That did not stop detroit from making more changes to their roster.
The Pistons have reportedly claimed veteran point guard Beno Udrih off of waivers today, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Udrih, a 12-year NBA veteran, spent last season with the Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat. He was waived by the Heat a few days back. He averaged 4.7 points and 2.6 assists in 16.1 minutes per game last season. He is 34 years old.
This leaves uncertainty over what will happen with Detroit's roster. They could waive McCallum now, although the whole training camp process would seem worthless if they were to waive both Brown and McCallum. The other option they have is that they could waive rookie wing Michale Gbinije. He appeared in a few preseason games with the Pistons, and played well, but if Detroit needs a roster spot, they would not hesitate to waive him.
This whole situation is a bit odd. We'll keep you updated with information when it is released.
