The Detroit Pistons have signed point guard Dwight Buycks, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

Buycks played in the Orlando Summer League this July, where he averaged 17.8 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.8 steals per game with the Dallas Mavericks. He also played in the TBT Tournament this summer with the Marquette alumni team.
Buycks, now 28 years old, has played 20 games in his NBA career. His most recent stint in the NBA was with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2014-2015 season. He only suited up for six games with Los Angeles.
He went undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Buycks is a gritty player known for his ability on the defensive end. He does a good job of getting his hands on the ball and forcing turnovers. On offense, Buyucks is crafty inside but has lacked a consistent three-point shot.
Buycks has a legitimate chance to make the Pistons roster, assuming his deal with Detroit is just a training camp deal. The Pistons currently have 15 players under contract besides Luis Montero, who is under a two-way contract with Detroit. Derek Willis is another player on a partially guaranteed deal, who will likely find himself on the Grand Rapids Drive after training camp with the Pistons.
Detroit could be in need of a third point guard if Langston Galloway spends his minutes as the backup shooting guard. If that is what happens, Detroit would only have Reggie Jackson and Ish Smith as their point guards, meaning a third one will likely need to be added to the roster for positional depth.
Buycks confirmed the report on his Twitter page.

Update:
It appears Buycks' deal with Detroit is a two-way deal, according to Chris Reichert of 2 Ways & 10 Days.
