REPORT: Pistons Acquire Thon Maker from Bucks for Stanley Johnson

The Stanley Johnson era has come to an end. The Pistons have acquired big man Thon Maker from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for the Pistons' wing defender, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:

A swap of two young players that hadn't found their niche with their previous team, both Maker and Johnson will have an opportunity to improve in a new city under a new regime. Johnson provides Milwaukee with a stout defender behind their talented cast of wings and forwards including Malcolm Brogdon, first-time All-Star Khris Middleton, and perennial superstar Giannis Antetkounmpo. Despite not progressing as much as expected in Detroit, Johnson's defense was a constant. He may have a better chance to improve on the offensive side of the ball under former Coach of the Year Mike Budeholzer. For Detroit, Maker gives the Pistons a breath of fresh air in the backup big man department. Long, young, and athletic, he is everything that Zaza Pachulia has not been in his half-season in Detroit. Maker also has shown promise of developing a consistent 3-point shot, something the Pistons desperately need after unloading Reggie Bullock to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. Maker, just 21 still, is under team control through next season and should have a very good opportunity to blossom as Detroit's third big man behind Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond.
