Andre Drummond has been in the news a lot over the past month. His name was first mentioned by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on January 3rd when Woj reported the Pistons and Atlanta Hawks were having discussions about Drummond.
He's been a hot name in the news cycle since.
One of the most recent talks about Andre Drummond are not about a team being interested in him. The quite is actually about Drummond as a player.
In a piece written by Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, Pincus cites an anonymous league executive who says Drummond has "a lot of bad habits he needs to unlearn."
From the story:
"Drummond has a lot of bad habits he needs to unlearn," said the second former executive, citing a lack of postseason experience. "The Clippers would have to be really confident he's the right fit, because they're going to need to pay him more than Harrell in July."
The information thrown in about the Clippers is arbitrary. Nowhere in the story did Pincus report the Clippers had talked to Detroit on Drummond. That part was all speculative.
Drummond has drawn the ire of Pistons' fans before for putting his head down, errant turnovers, and lack of hustle, but those days are few and far between more recently for the center. There were numerous times when Drummond was younger that he would show a less than ideal attitude and effort on the court, but his motor has been pretty consistent over the past seasons.
That being said, it appears Drummond has done enough to create a narrative of that being an issue, at least to this executive.
The Pistons are still hopeful of getting a first-round pick for Drummond, as it has previously been reported.
The two-time all-star has averaged 17.3 points and 15.7 rebounds per game this year. He is 26 years old.
