A source later confirmed the signing to Palace Of Pistons.
McCallum has been one of the best players in the D-League this season for the Pistons' affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive.
He is averaging 18.2 points. 7.5 assists, and six rebounds per game this season.
This is not a long-term deal, meaning McCallum could return to return to the Drive after his 10-day contract expires.
If McCallum does end up sticking with the Hornets, the Drive will have a chance to replace him.
Nate Robinson recently signed a contract with the NBA D-League, and the Drive are one of the top five teams in the waiver order list, meaning they could claim him off waivers. Robinson is a former NBA veteran, who is looking to get back to the NBA himself.
McCallum went to training camp with the Pistons but was waived before the season began.
