With Cade Cunningham lost for the rest of the season, the Detroit Pistons entered the All-Star Break admittedly thin at point guard. With only Killian Hayes, Jaden Ivey (who starts at shooting guard), and Cory Joseph(?) capable of running the offense, the Detroit Pistons have decided to bolster their playmaking with the addition of the recently-waived R.J. Hampton, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:
Hampton, who stands at 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds, has struggled as a combo guard in the NBA since being drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2020. He has shown flashes of scoring and playmaking in Orlando, but lost his role with the team as the Magic continue to rise toward playoff contention. The third-year guard will be yet another player looking to rejuvenate his career in Detroit.
