Allen joins a growing list of interviewees for the vacant gig that opened up earlier this week when Quinn Synder resigned after eight seasons as Utah's head coach. Synder had two years remaining on his contract.
Allen, who previously served on Brad Stevens' coaching staff in Boston, has been with Dwane Casey and the Pistons since last summer. He's a well-respected coach who has garnered a reputation as a 'player's coach'.
Prior to entering the coaching space Allen was drafted in the second round of the 1995 NBA Draft and played professional basketball in the NBA and overseas for 14 years.
This could be a franchise-altering offseason for Utah, with rumors circulating that star guard Donovan Mitchell could request a trade from the franchise after a disappointing season filled with tension.
The Jazz is expected to begin interviewing candidates next week.
