An exciting addition to Detroit's newest G League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, has been made with the signing of former University of Michigan point guard Derrick Walton Jr, according to James Edwards III of The Athletic:
Walton, who spent four years in college with the Wolverines, has struggled to latch on with a team early in his NBA career. The floor general played in three games for the Pistons in 2019-20 after signing a 10-day contract with the team, but has yet to play for in the NBA since. The 24-year-old will now likely spend most of the season with the Cruise, where he can continue to improve his game in hopes of earning a roster spot.
In 42 career games, Walton has averaged 2.0 points and 1.0 assists per game on 41 percent shooting from three.
