The event will take place on Saturday, February 15th in Chicago at the United Center, the home of the Chicago Bulls.
In the current version of the contest, two participants race against each other on identical courses by first dribbling between five obstacles while running down the court. Next, the player must throw a pass into an upright hoop. Then, the players must dribble back the full length of the court for a layup. Shortly after, the players must dribble back down the court and hit a 3-pointer from the top of the basketball key. The match ends when the first player hits the 3- pointer.
This decision by Rose to participate is a nod to his loyal fanbase, as Rose was drafted by the Bulls and won an MVP with the team during his successful tenure with the team. He spent nine years in Chicago and was a three-time all-star during his career there.
Rose is currently fourth among guards in the Eastern Conference in fan votes for the All-Star Game, which takes place on Sunday the 16th.
He has been a catalyst for the Pistons this season, averaging 17.3 points on 48.6% shooting from the field and 5.7 assists per game in 24.8 minutes off the bench.
