Wojnarowski also reports that Cunningham is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for training camp next season, a glimmer of good news in what is otherwise a disappointing outcome. Cunningham has not appeared in a game since November 9th, taking a full month to see if rehabilitation and rest would solve the problem. Evidently, it has not.
Detroit sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference at 7-22 and, ultimately, was not very competitive even with Cunningham playing regularly. Now, Troy Weaver and the Pistons front office will get a look at the rest of the roster to see what sticks for next season.
Cunningham was averaging 19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and six assists per game prior to the injury.
