Pistons' Owner Tom Gores to Bring MLS Team to Detroit
Detroit could be home to a new Major League Soccer(MLS) Club in the future. Why are you reading this on an NBA blog? Because, the team would be owned by two NBA owners. One, is Dan Gilbert, the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The other? None other than Detroit Pistons' owner, Tom Gores.
The team could reportedly join the MLS as early as 2020. The MLS Commissioner, Don Garber, will be in Detroit this week to discuss with Gores and Gilbert the expansion plan.
"I'm excited to partner with Dan and help in Detroit's resurgence," Gores said. "Together we have all the tools we need to make a new team successful."
Gores' partner, Dan Gilbert, is also ready to bring a MLS team to Detroit. "Bringing a team downtown will also further energize Detroit's urban core, which is critical to the entire city's overall health and vibrancy.
Today Gilbert and Gores teased Twitter on the potential club in Detroit.
