Game Recap: Pistons Make Late Run to Beat Timberwolves

The Detroit Pistons have defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-97 in a game that gave the Pistons some much needed confidence after dropping two heartbreakers in the past week.

Detroit had an early lead in the second quarter, but until the last half of the fourth quarter it was all Minnesota, as the Pistons didn't come back to take the lead until there was just a couple minutes left in the game.

The comeback came mostly at the hands of Reggie Jackson, who played in the clutch reminiscent to how he played during Detroit's 2016 playoff run, finishing with 16 points and 8 assists on efficient shooting. Andre Drummond and Tobias Harris played big roles themselves, finishing with 20 points and 16 rebounds and 18 points, respectively, after slow starts to the game. Avery Bradley also contributed 18 points and played his usual lockdown defense, coming up with a few big steals throughout the game.

For Minnesota, Jimmy Butler showed how big of a loss he was when he sat out with an illness when the Wolves visited Detroit, as he lead everyone in points, also corralling ten rebounds and five steals against a Pistons team that had a hard time at holding onto the ball for the majority of the game. Andrew Wiggins also poured in 24, seemingly scoring at will at times.

This a big win for Detroit, as a brutal stretch of games did not have a great start; but they are now 11-5 and again second in the East. The Timberwolves fall to 10-6 and take on Charlotte tomorrow, while the Pistons are back at Little Caesar's Arena to face the Cleveland Cavaliers.
