The Detroit Pistons are hiring former Cavs and University of Michigan head coach John Beilein to serve as the team's Senior Advisor Player Development, the formal title for his role, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times:
Beilein is most known for his head coaching role with the Michigan Wolverines, the team he led to two Final Four wins during his time with the university from 2007 to 2019. Beilein got his long-awaited head coaching gig after spending decades in the NCAA when he was hired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2019. He would go on to coach only 54 games with the team before resigning, but he now lands with the Pistons in a smaller role more fit to his strengths.
