The Detroit Pistons have selected Iowa's Luka Garza with the 52nd pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Garza, a 6'11", 265-pound big man, has a decorated college resume, including being named the 2020-21 AP Player of the Year.
In his senior season, Garza averaged 24.1 points and 8.7 rebounds on an very efficient 55/44/70 splits. Despite dominating at the college level, he was never a highly-touted NBA prospect, allowing the Pistons to nab him late in the draft. Garza could get an opportunity to compete for backup center minutes next season.
The Pistons already selected a fellow Big 10 alumni in Isaiah Livers with the 52nd overall pick.
