Game Recap: Pistons Defeat Wizards on Morris Game-Winner; Close in on Playoff Spot
The Detroit Pistons have defeated the Washington Wizards 113-112 as Detroit moves to 21-24 and Washington falls to 23-20.
Washington put up a fight today, as seven players scored in double digits, including Jason Smith with 16 and Kelly Oubre with 11 off the bench. John Wall, per usual, led the Wizards' attack tonight, putting up a near triple double with 19, 10 assists, and 7 boards. Markieff Morris tied Wall's team high in scoring while also helping out with 9 rebounds.
The Pistons played well as a team tonight, starting out with a slim lead for most of the game then taking over in the third to give themselves a 16 point advantage going into the final quarter. Marcus Morris led the game in points with 25, also notching a double-double with his 11 rebounds. Reggie Jackson and Tobias Harris also had 19 and 18, respectively.
As stated earlier, the Pistons led by 16 going into the fourth, and they ended up winning by one. You can probably conclude that the Pistons had yet another 4th quarter collapse, only saved by a clutch tip in by Marcus Morris after offense rebounds by Andre Drummond and Harris.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was out yet again, but hopefully should be returning soon.
As the Pistons start to get rolling, other lower-tier Eastern Conference playoff teams have been reeling, setting up the Pistons to be tied for the last playoff spot, bearing losses from Milwaukee and Chicago tonight.
The Pistons take on Sacramento next, with the Wizards going up against the Charlotte.
