Game Recap: Pistons Continue to Disappoint in Loss to Lowly Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have defeated the Detroit Pistons 98-96, as the Pistons continue to show lack of effort in games they need.

The Pistons came out of the gates quickly,  as they were up by 8 after the first quarter. Everything went down from there, as Detroit combined to shoot 29% in the second and third quarters. By the time the fourth rolled around, it seemed as if the deficit was too much, and even with great effort to try and secure the much-needed win, the Pistons didn't play a full 48 minutes to earn the W in a close playoff race. Tobias Harris led the team in scoring with 24, also chipping in 3 blocks, KCP had 19, 3 assist and 4 rebounds, while Ish led the bench unit with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Even being firmly out of playoff contention and virtually locking up the worst record in the NBA, the Nets continue to fight for wins, surprising for such a lowly squad, but the effort showed tonight. Former University of Michigan star Caris LeVert had 15 points for Brooklyn, while former third-string Detroit guard Spencer Dinwiddie out performed his matchup, Reggie Jackson, with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Brooklyn's star, however, was Brook Lopez, who torched the Pistons for 29 points and the game winning buzzer-beater.

The Pistons continue to show zero effort against inferior teams in the heat of a playoff race, which could hurt the Pistons by making them not only miss the playoffs, but also have a pick at the tail end of the lottery. Detroit must bring effort and toughness in the last slate of games in order to be able to compete in the playoffs.
