Game Recap: Morris, Leuer Have Career Nights as Pistons Defeat Timberwolves

The Detroit Pistons have defeated the Minnesota Timberiwolves 116-108. The Pistons rise to 23-27, tied for 8th in the East, while the Wolves fall to 19-31, continuing to fall well below expectations.

The Wolves were led by their big three of Andrew Wiggins, (21 points) Karl-Anthony Towns (24 points, 11 rebounds) and Zach LaVine. (20 points, 9-13 shooting)  The Wolves played well on offense, distributing the ball on offense with 25 assists. They couldn't stop the firing Pistons offense, as they were killed on the grass and couldn't stop the Pistons hot shooting attack.

For the Pistons, the stories of the night were Jon Leuer and Marcus Morris, who both had career highs in points (24 and 36, respectively) as their baskets in crunch time led Detroit to the late win. Drummond also contributed with 18 rebounds, while Smith and Harris both scored double digits off the bench.

Something that's been interesting over the last couple games is that the Pistons have been doing much better with Reggie Jackson on the bench, as it gives more shots to other players and stops the stagnant ball movement that the Pistons have had since Jackson's return. This could be a sign to Stan Van Gundy, but we will have to see what happens at the upcoming trade deadline.

The Pistons take on the Indiana Pacers next, while the Wolves play the Memphis Grizzlies.
