Jerami Grant to Miss Remainder of 2021-22 Season

The Detroit Pistons announced on Monday evening that forward Jerami Grant will miss the remainder of the season with a left calf strain.

Grant suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Pistons' loss to the Washington Wizards on March 25th. He had missed a pair of games over the past week leading up to the injury suffered against Washington. He missed 24 games earlier this season after having surgery to repair multiple ligaments in his right thumb.

The 28-year old forward finishes the season averaging 19.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and one block per game.

Grant will be eligible for a four-year, $112 million contract extension this summer. He still has one year left on a three-year, $60 million contract he signed with Detroit in the 2020 offseason.

The 6'8 forward was a hot commodity at the trade deadline, with numerous teams such as the Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Utah Jazz expressing interest in Grant. It has already been reported that the Trail Blazers will take another run at attempting to trade for Grant this summer.

The Pistons, 20-55, have just seven games remaining on their schedule for the season.

Grant joins Hamidou Diallo and rookie Chris Smith as Pistons who were announced to be out for the rest of the year.
