Game Recap: Thunder Thrash Pistons to End Detroit's Undefeated Home Stand

The Detroit Pistons have fallen to the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-83 in what was arguably the Pistons worst game of the season.

The Pistons looked out of it from the beginning on both sides of the ball, with even Blake Griffin struggling early on. The team missed rim on multiple shots in the first quarter, setting the tone for what turned out to be an abysmal night for the offense. Second-year guard Luke Kennard returned from a month-long absence due to a shoulder injury, but fellow wing Reggie Bullock went down with an injury early in this game. The Pistons went on to shoot a ghastly 34% from the field and an even 20% from 3-point range against one of the NBA's toughest defenses. Blake Griffin was the only Piston to even have a remotely good game for Detroit, with a halfway decent 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists on 7-of-18 shooting. Outside of that, it was a forgettable affair from basically every other player.

The Thunder, who similarly had a slow start in the first half, turned it on in the third quarter and put the Pistons away in deflating fashion. Steven Adams, in particular, dominated Andre Drummond from the beginning, missing just one shot and making all seven of his free throws in one of his best offensive efforts this season. All-Stars Russell Westbrook and Paul George only had marginally efficient games, with Westbrook scoring 18 and George putting up 17 points and 10 boards, but the rest of the team's effort made it an easy victory. Starting forward Jerami Grant also had a great offensive performance, scoring 15 points and only missing one shot himself.

The Pistons were due for a dud, falling to 13-8, but still remain in fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Their tough schedule continues as they head out to Milwaukee to face Giannis Antetokounmpo the second-place Bucks. The Thunder rise to 15-7 and are now virtually tied for first place in the Western Conference.
