Game Recap: Pistons Pull Away Late in Win Over Suns

The Detroit Pistons have defeated the Phoenix Suns 118-107 at Little Caesar's arena in what turned out to be an offensive showcase in Detroit. The Pistons relied heavily on the hot shooting from Langston Galloway and Reggie Bullock and the playmaking of Blake Griffin, who struggled mightily before an offensive explosion that separated the Pistons from the Suns for the remainder of the contest. Stanley Johnson continued to be a key contributor for the second unit, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, and two three-pointers.

Andre Drummond finished with his usual double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds, but returned to his early-career ways at the free throw line, shooting a ghastly 1-of-8. Blake Griffin, despite the slow start, ended with 16 points and 11 assists as he played the role as the primary playmaker for the Pistons. While the offense was flowing for the majority of the contest for Detroit, the defense failed to contain the Suns' young core. Devin Booker had one of his best games of the season, finishing with 37 points as he was the primary reason Phoenix stayed in the game for as long as they did. Rookie DeAndre Ayton also had quite the game working against the Pistons' All-Star Drummond, finishing with 25 points and 13 rebounds on a near-perfect 11-of-13 shooting. Richaun Holmes, Michigan-native Josh Jackson, and University of Michigan alum Jamal Crawford each contributed double-digit points off the bench for the Suns. Forward TJ Warren was notably given two technicals in the same possession, ejecting him from the game in the second quarter. The Pistons are now 10-7 and will finish out their soft-scheduled month of November before moving on to a playoff-team filled schedule in December. Phoenix falls to 4-15, worst in the NBA.
