Game Recap: Pistons End Drought, Win First Road Game of Season Vs Nuggets

The Detroit Pistons (5-5) picked up their first win on the road this season, defeating the Denver Nuggets (3-6) 106-95. Detroit had lost their first five road games of the season.

The Nuggets fought hard the entire game, after trailing by 17 at one point in the game. Emmanuel Mudiay dropped 19 points in the game on 4-8 shooting from the three-point line. Danilo Gallinari scored 18 points. These were two of them:

Gary Harris and Jameer Nelson scored 13 and 11 points respectively.

The issue for the Nuggets was not scoring the ball, but holding onto the ball. They committed 15 turnovers in the game. Ball control has been an issue for them all season. They shot the ball well overall, hitting 42.9% from the field and 36% from deep. However, their shooting was not enough to stop a potent Detroit offense.

Detroit had six players score in double figures. Tobias Harris dropped 19 points while grabbing four boards. Marcus Morris, who scored two points in the first half, finished with 17 points and three assists. Andre Drummond played only 26 minutes but managed yet another double-double. He finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jon Leuer had another fantastic game off the bench. He played 26 minutes, scoring 14 points and corralling 10 boards. Ish Smith had 10 points and eight assists.

Detroit's ball movement was well improved, as they had 23 assists in the game, but they won due to their defensive effort. They had 11 steals in the win, forcing Denver into turnover after turnover. "We locked in defensively. We found a way to get stops," said Tobias Harris.
