Game Recap: Drummond, Pistons Defeat Injury-Riddled Wizards
The Detroit Pistons have defeated the Washington Wizards 103-92, keeping the Pistons slim playoff hopes alive.
With Blake Griffin out with a right ankle contusion, the outlook of the game looked grim for Detroit, even with All-Star point guard John Wall out. It was a team effort, mostly dominated by Andre Drummond's huge 24-point, 23-rebound performance. Reggie Bullock and Anthony Tolliver also contributed with an efficient 14 points each, while the second unit - which included Henry Ellenson for the first time in awhile - combined for 29 points.
For Washington, it was a competitive matchup before Otto Porter went down in the third quarter, followed by All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal going down later that same quarter. Without their three best players on the court, the Wizards couldn't keep up, allowing a big third quarter from Detroit en route to the defeat. Beal led the team with 15 points, followed by Kelly Oubre's 14 off the bench in a game the Wizards' offense struggled
The Pistons move to 35-40 and take on the lowly Knicks next, while the Wizards fall to 41-34 and play the Hornets next.
