Game Preview: Pistons Visit Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lakers in Halloween Meeting
The Detroit Pistons(5-2) face the Los Angeles Lakers(2-4) tonight at Staples Center. The game begins at 10:30 p.m.
The Lakers dropped their last two meetings to the Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz. Their most recent loss to the Jazz, a 96-81 defeat, was an ugly for the Lakers. Brandon Ingram, 16 points, and Jordan Clarkson, 15 points, were the only Lakers to score in double figures.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who signed with the Lakers this offseason after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Pistons, scored just seven points in Los Angeles' loss to the Jazz. On the season, he is averaging just 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He is shooting a meager 37.5 percent from the field and a disastrous 27.8 percent from the 3-point line.
The Pistons are surging with three straight wins against Western Conference teams. They blew out the Minnesota Timberwolves last week, stunned the then-undefeated Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, and flat-out outplayed the reigning NBA Champion Golden State Warriors on Sunday in Oracle Arena.
Avery Bradley scored 23 points and had three steals in the win, including a late game steal on Stephen Curry to seal the game for Detroit. Reggie Jackson had another fantastic game, scoring 22 points and adding five assists. Detroit also got solid production from the two forward positions as Tobias Harris scored 16 points and Stanley Johnson finished in double figures with 15 points.
Injuries:
The Detroit Pistons are at full health besides two-way point guard Dwight Buycks who is still out with a hip injury.
There are no injuries to report for the Lakers.
