After going undefeated in pool play, the Detroit Pistons fell to the Brooklyn Nets in the quarterfinal of the 2019 NBA Summer League tournament. They finish their trip in Vegas with a 4-1 record.
Detroit made the tournament as a two-seed after winning contests against Croatia, Portland, Philadelphia, and Indiana, largely in part to the play of 2nd-year guard Bruce Brown. Brown averaged 13.5 points, 8 rebounds, and 8.3 assists through 4 games in Vegas. He also recorded the third Summer League triple-double since 2004 in the game against the 76ers.
The Pistons made the executive decision to rest Brown for the quarterfinal game against the Nets. Jarrett Allen and Rodions Kurucs, two starters for Brooklyn, led their team to a 105-85 victory.
15th overall pick Sekou Doumbouya made his Summer League debut for the Pistons on Saturday after missing the entirety of pool play with a strained right hamstring. The 18-year-old recorded 9 points on 3-7 shooting in only 13 minutes of game action.
