Detroit Pistons Release Summer League Roster
The Detroit Pistons don't play their first summer league game until this Sunday, August 8th against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but eager fans won't have to wait a minute longer to know who will be representing them in Las Vegas. The Pistons revealed their summer league roster today, with James Edwards of The Athletic first to tweet out a screenshot of the (mostly) complete team and coaching staff.
While most names, including those of rookies Cade Cunningham, Luka Garza and Isaiah Livers come as no surprise, there are several names that were perhaps less expected, such as recently waived forward Tyler Cook and standout rookies Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart. 2019 first round draftee Sekou Doumbouya will join Cook as the only third year players on the roster, however fellow 2019 pick Deividas Sirvydis will also be on the team despite being waived earlier this week as the Pistons attempted to clear salary for Free Agency.
Although the current roster stands at 17 players total, Stewart, Livers and UCLA's Chris Smith will not compete in Summer League play due to injury. Rookie center Balsa Koprivica, who Detroit selected 57th overall in this year's NBA Draft will also wait to join the roster until the Pistons trade of Mason Plumlee and the 37th pick (JT Thor) to the Charlotte Hornets is officially completed.
